How does InterviewPad work?
- You create a pad once and get a permanent link. Paste it into every interview invite; each interview is a session on that pad. The candidate opens the link, enters a name and joins — no account, no install. You share an editor with real code execution or a system-design whiteboard, and on paid plans the session is recorded, transcribed and summarised by AI when it ends.
Do candidates need an account to join an interview?
- No. Candidates join by link as a guest (with a name) or anonymously (under a generated alias like "Amber Otter"). Nothing is installed. Before joining, the lobby states whether the session is recorded and transcribed and whether integrity monitoring is on — joining is the consent, and the link stops working for that session once it ends.
Which programming languages actually run in InterviewPad?
- Three languages execute for real, in the browser: JavaScript, TypeScript and Python, against test cases with pass/fail results. Four more — Java, C++, Go and Rust — are syntax-highlighted only and labelled as such next to the language picker. InterviewPad never fabricates test results for a language it does not run.
How much does InterviewPad cost?
- As of 2026: Free is $0 with 5 sessions a month on text-only pads. Pro is $49 a month (or $470 a year) with 25 sessions, recording, transcripts and AI summaries. Team is $199 a month (or $1,910 a year) with 100 sessions plus a shared question library and an ATS webhook. Extra sessions on paid plans are $5 each. Every plan has unlimited users.
What counts as a session?
- A session counts against your monthly allowance only when both are true: someone besides you joined it, and it ran longer than 5 minutes. A misclick or an abandoned setup is never billed. Sessions over 2 hours count one unit per 2 hours, so a 2h15m interview counts as 2. If transcription fails permanently, the unit is refunded.
How does recording and transcription work?
- InterviewPad sits beside your video call rather than replacing it. On paid plans it records two tracks — your microphone and the call's audio — so both sides of the conversation are captured, then transcribes them with word-level timestamps into one attributed transcript. The audio is kept for 365 days on paid plans; the transcript and summary are kept beyond that.
Is the AI summary trustworthy?
- It is written from the actual evidence — the transcript, the final code, real test results and your private notes — and it is honest about gaps. A session with no transcript shows a pending state, never a placeholder summary; a transcript that covers part of the session is labelled partial; and the summariser is told when only one side of the conversation was captured.
